"Hollywood style" Coron sign and Mount Tapyas

We had no specific itinerary on our last day in Coron. Our flight was still in the afternoon so we asked to be fetched at the resort after lunch. We got up a little late to offset the early morning departure we had the day before. For our last meal in Coron, we opted for lunch at Sea Dive Resort’s restaurant. Sea Dive is a resort jutting out of the water beside the market. Access to the resort is through a small but clearly signposted alley. While waiting for the food, we took some last shots of Coron.

We had calamares and fish steak in marinara sauce. Both serving size and quality were pretty good.

Planespotting at USU

We were at Busuanga airport (USU) by 2 p.m. for our 4:25 p.m. flight. Note that beach sand and certain types of shells are not allowed to be taken out of Busuanga. I spotted this pile of contraband after the airport security check.

USU is a busy little airport. Live fish in boxes are loaded onto small planes and flown to Manila and probably abroad, where they fetch prices many times the buying price here in Palawan.

We departed Busuanga at 5:20 and arrived in Manila an hour later.

After four days in Coron, I can say Coron is a well-rounded destination that won’t disappoint travelers trying to find a much-needed break from work. Four days is certainly not enough to see all sights, but it can give a good overview of what the Calamian group of islands has to offer. Being able to dive is also not required to enjoy the underwater reefs and wrecks of Coron, but it surely opens up opportunities for more adventures.
