Shanghai was our first honeymoon stop back in 2011. This is the view of Pudong financial district across the Huangpu River. The tallest structures are the Shanghai World Financial Center (492m, the building with huge trapezoid hole on top), the Oriental Pearl Tower (468m, the tower with spherical structures), and the Jin Mao (421m, building to the left of Shanghai World Financial Center). Upon its completion in 2014, the Shanghai Tower (not yet in this photo) will surpass the Shanghai World Financial Center as the tallest building in China at 632m.
Tokyo Tower is a 333m-tall communications and observation tower in Minato Ward, Tokyo. It was previously the tallest communications tower in Tokyo before the opening of Tokyo Skytree (634m) in 2012. The Main (150m) and Special (250m) observation decks offer 360-degree views of Tokyo. But if you want to have Tokyo Tower in your frame, head to the observation decks of World Trade Center in Hamamatsucho Station or the Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills.
Breathtaking views of the Hong Kong skyline can be had from the 125-year old Peak Tram. Going to Victoria Peak last May 2012, our seat at the right side of the tram provided this foggy view of Central, Victoria Harbor, and Kowloon.
Kobe in western Japan has completely rebuilt itself from the rubble of the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. From our hotel in Osaka in April 2009, we went to Kobe Harborland for dinner (unfortunately, not Kobe beef) and a few harbor photo ops. Kobe Harborland is a shopping and entertainment district that has this unobstructed view of Meriken Park across the harbor.
The best things in life are free, such as this view of the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. Kerry Park is a small park tucked in a residential area in Queen Anne Hill, Seattle, Washington. On a weekend trip with my team-mates while on business trip in Oregon, we were a bit early for sunset at Kerry Park one cold autumn evening last 2012. We fought the biting cold with our flimsy jackets, mittens, and bonnets. Minutes later, we were rewarded with a beautiful view of downtown Seattle as the city lights turned on.
