Low Tide at El Nido, Palawan

Day trips don’t get any better than this. As we were in Daet (my hometown) during the Holy Week break in 2011, we went to Calaguas on Black Saturday and were back in Daet by early evening.

One weekend in September 2010, we had an overnight stay in our friend’s family beach house in Dingalan, Aurora together with our blocmates from college. The southernmost town of Aurora is roughly 190 kilometers from Metro Manila via Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija and the new road through Fort Magsaysay and Gabaldon.

Rocks and sea moss are exposed by the low tide in El Nido. This was taken from the small road towards Caalan Beach on the eastern end of El Nido town proper. More on our El Nido trip here!

In 2010 we joined our office team building/excursion in Punta de Uian in Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales. Camara and Capones islands were in sight but we did not go on a side trip to the islands as the waves were quite strong. Next time!

We had a day to spare after attending a wedding in Cebu last December 2007. We went to Bantayan Island, a three-hour bus ride and one-hour ferry ride away from Cebu City. We only stayed on the island for three hours since we needed to catch our flight back to Manila in the evening. We hope to return in the future with a whole weekend to spare!
